Neurofeedback (biofeedback for the head) involves training that helps improve voluntarily regulated brain activity; both electrical activity and brain blood flow. SEMG uses a surface electrode to measure muscle activity. Information about your muscle activity can be helpful as you become more aware of muscular holding patterns. sEMG is helpful in learning how to reduce muscle tension. Muscle activity is measured in units of microvolts which is the equivalent of one one millionth of a volt. As muscle tension increases so does the micro voltage reading. As you learn to relax tension can be brought under control.

Skin conductance response (SCR) monitors sweat glands on your fingers or on the palm side of your hand using an electrodermal activity (EDA) sensor. Electrical activity which increases with sweat gland activation normally increases with stress and decreases with relaxation. SCR training is a "validating" intervention during counseling, psychotherapy and hypnosis; as sweat gland activity is also monitored during polygraph or lie detection. SCR training is helpful for:

Brain exercise relies on a process known as neurofeedback. Neurofeedback trains your brain in the same way you learn any other skill; practice and feedback.
Your brain contains about 86 billion neurons that communicate through tiny electrical and chemical signals. Every thought, emotion, movement and memory arises from patterns of activity within these interconnected networks.
When groups of neurons activate together, they produce rhythmic electrical activity called brainwaves. These patterns change continuously as you focus, learn, relax or recover from stress.
Electroencephalography (EEG) measures these electrical signals from the scalp. Advanced software amplifies, analyzes, and displays the frequency, amplitude, and synchrony of brain activity, transforming invisible physiological patterns into information that can be observed and changed.
