Biofeedback Skills Training

COURSE SUMMARY

Survey biofeedback skills and learn to apply biosensor feedback.  Learn biofeedback monitored psychotherapy, counseling, hypnosis and meditation.  Course materials include:

  • BCIA home study guide - 10 modules

  • Biocomp Research Laboratory data

  • Biofeedback friendly interventions resources and apps

  • Original research articles and relevant concept material

Biofeedback is a psychophysiological system that supports nervous system change by reconditioning habits. Biofeedback empowers trainees to use their brain and mind for healing. Trainees report relief from symptoms associated with stress, anxiety, trauma, attention deficit, depression, addictions, pain and more.  Biofeedback supports executive functions such as focused attention, self-regulation and the willpower to meditate.

COURSE PURPOSE

The course is a good first step toward understanding applied psychophysiology (bio/neurofeedback).  With hands-on experience you can make informed choices about moving forward with biofeedback for personal or professional use. This basic skills course covers foundational science, application and practical tips for integrating biofeedback in practice.  Learn biofeedback history from laboratory to clinical practice, assessment, sensor application and training protocols for biofeedback applications. Students will understand the stress response continuum and how the nervous system interactions and influences cognition and behavior.  Learning materials will be available online and during the course. Students will experience psychophysiological assessment and learn to use several different clinical grade and personal (consumer) biosensors. Successful students will receive a certificate of completion.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

Understand and experience applied psychophysiology. Coach biofeedback trainees using temperature, skin conductance, heart-rate-variability and electromyography toward measurable improvement. You will be able to:

  • Place biosensors on the body

  • Identify normal and abnormal response patterns

  • Identify symptom patterns

  • Identify artifacts caused by movement, light and or pooling

Neurofeedback Skills Training 101

Learn to use evidence-based neurofeedback to manage ongoing executive function and self-regulation challenges. Attention deficit, brain fog, addiction, memory and other cognitive and performance challenges all respond well to neurofeedback training.

Your neurofeedback training coach guides you step-by-step through 8 hours (4 modules) of hands-on neurofeedback training. Your practice skills and psychophysiological tools will transform your life.  Neurofeedback will expedite psychotherapy, counseling or coaching outcome.  Use neurofeedback in your very next session.

Electroencephalography (EEG) & hemoencephalography (HEG) neurofeedback are safe and effective interventions for many cognitive issues and symptoms associated with prefrontal low blood flow and self-regulation challenges.

Neurofeedback is brain exercise that empowers trainees to use their brain for self-healing.  Successful neurofeedback training supports executive function and self-regulation. Trainees report relief from symptoms associated with trauma, attention deficit, anxiety, insomnia, brain fog, migraine, sleep and more.

COURSE SUMMARY

This 4level, 8-hour neurofeedback course includes: Brain & Behavior, Recording the Brain, Brain Computer Interfaces (BCI) & Neurofeedback Training.  Learn brain physiology associated with neurofeedback, the physics of  electrical conductance, EEG & HEG recording, brain blood flow and brain wave frequency characteristics, BCI and clinical protocols.

nirHEG Neurofeedback Certification

NirHEG Neurofeedback Certification is obtained by completing Neurofeedback Skills Training 101 and by completing 6 hours practicum and 2 hours supervision with an nirHEG mentor.  The course is designed to allow you to understand and use nirHEG neurofeedback at home or in your practice.  nirHEG neurofeedback relies on voluntary activation of the prefrontal cortex (PFC). The PFC controls attention and blocks distractions. It integrates sensations, emotions and memories and regulates impulses and moods.  The PFC is implicated in executive skill challenges like motivation, planning and organizing.  NirHEG neurofeedback is an effective, drug-free technique used to meet  several neuropsychological challenges involving self-regulated cortical activation. NirHEG is a non-intrusive way to monitor and train the brain without the inconvenience of electrode preparation. The software is entertaining and suitable for children and adults.

NirHEG neurofeedback is compatible with the following EEG/HEG systems:  J. Toomim’s Peanut, Thought Technology’s TT-pIR or nIR HeadGear, ProComp 2, ProComp 5, Infinity or Flexcomp Infiniti -pIR/nIR, Brain Master Atlantis - pIR/nIR, Stens Nexus 10 & Mark II - pIR/nIR, Cygnet and NeuroAmp - pIR/nIR, Pocket Neurobics - pIR/nIR and J.Carmen’s EZPIR neurofeedback equipment.

COURSE SUMMARY

This course covers practical and theoretical aspects of neurotherapy with ample time for hands-on learning. You will learn assessment, optimal headband placement, signal detection, how to get high HEG ratios, motivating factors, software basics and training protocols for various symptoms. Students will understand how brain function influences cognition, behavior and performance. Learning materials will be available online and during the workshop. Successful students will receive a certificate of completion.
